Doechii Speaks on Trump Unleashing Military on L.A. Protestors
Doechii addressed the immigration protests in Downtown Los Angeles during her acceptance speech at the BET Awards, highlighting the use of military forces against protesters and calling for unity against hate.
California National Guard troops were deployed to Los Angeles following clashes between immigration agents and protesters after ICE raids in the city.
Doechii expressed her commitment to using her platform to advocate for oppressed groups, including Black, Latino, and trans people, as well as those in Gaza.
“These are ruthless attacks that are creating fear and chaos in our communities. In the name of law and order, Trump is using military forces to stop a protest, and I want you all to consider what kind of government it appears to be — when every time we exercise our democratic right to protest, the military is deployed against us.”
Doechii won the BET Award for best female hip-hop artist, competing against other nominees such as Cardi B, Doja Cat, Megan Thee Stallion, and Nicki Minaj.
