Soulja Boy Denies Sexual Assault During Trial
Soulja Boy, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, testified in his defense at a civil trial in California, denying the allegations of assault, rape, and false imprisonment made by a woman who lived with him as a personal assistant.
Way admitted to a sexual encounter with the woman during a police raid but claimed it was consensual, stating, “I asked her if she wanted to have sex, and she was engaged in it.”
The woman alleged that Way regularly beat, berated, and sexually assaulted her during their relationship, leading her to fear for her life and the safety of her family.
Way refuted the accusations of physical and sexual assault, emotional abuse, and false imprisonment, claiming the woman voluntarily lived in his home rent-free and offered to help him with tasks.
The ongoing trial, initiated by the woman in January 2021, accuses Way of sexual battery, assault, false imprisonment, emotional distress, unpaid overtime, and a hostile work environment, with claims of multiple instances of physical violence and abuse.
