A$AP Rocky and Rihanna expressed their gratitude to lawyer Joe Tacopina by jokingly promising to name their next child after him, with Tacopina revealing, “Rihanna and Rocky said to me in the courtroom yesterday, they grabbed me and they said, ‘Listen, our next baby is A$AP Joe.’” A$AP Rocky faced up to 24 years in prison over a felony shooting incident but was acquitted of all charges, leading to a celebratory moment in court where he sprinted away and hugged Rihanna.
Rihanna shared her joy on Instagram, writing, “THE GLORY BELONGS TO GOD AND GOD ALONE! THANKFUL, HUMBLED BY HIS MERCY!” after Rocky’s not guilty verdict was announced. Joe Tacopina, the lawyer who represented A$AP Rocky, described the close relationship he developed with the couple during the legal proceedings, even babysitting their son RZA in 2023 while Rihanna was preparing for a performance.
Tacopina recounted the moment when Rocky celebrated his court win by jumping over a courtroom railing and embracing Rihanna, saying, “I look to my right, he’s gone … he was just gone. I said to my partner, ‘Did he leave?’ … And I see him on top of Rihanna… I couldn’t process quickly enough.”
