A$AP Rocky’s trial arguments differ in one important way: on Thursday (February 13), prosecutors will argue the hip-hop star fired two handgun bullets at a former acquaintance, but defense lawyers will say he fired blanks from a fake gun. Jurors should begin deliberations on two felony semiautomatic assault charges for the 2021 shooting by afternoon. Rocky faces 24 years in jail if convicted of both. On Tuesday (February 11), Rocky and his lawyers informed the judge he would not testify. Rocky’s alleged victim’s believability is key to the prosecution’s case. The defense will argue in closing that A$AP Relli, video evidence, and text messages are unreliable. The prosecution will claim Relli is seeking compensation for a legitimate wrong. Prosecutors will undoubtedly claim that Rocky’s inner circle lied about the starter pistol’s blank-firing capability.
